Glow in the dark is a luminous paint available in blue, red and green/yellow in 250 ml bottles.

Glow-in-the-dark paint can be used outdoors if the painted area is completely sealed with varnish.

Photoluminescent paint with effect

Glow in the dark paint and luminous paint works by "absorbing" daylight and artificial white light, and lights up in a greenish, reddish or bluish luminous colour when the room is completely dark.

In other words, the luminescent paint must actually be "charged" with light before it can remain luminescent for a number of hours.

Hvad er selvlysende maling?

Selvlysende maling, også kaldet “Glow in the dark” maling, lyser op i mørke omgivelser med grønne/blågrønne nuancer. Selvlysende maling bruger stoffet phosphorescent og virker ved at malingen absorberer lys og kan sammenlignes med et batteri som oplades.  Dagslys / hvidt lys "lader" bedst men der kan også bruges blacklight, og den selvlysende maling kan dermed lyse af sig selv, så længe andet lys er slukket. Glow in the dark-maling findes i forskellige farver, men har det kraftigste lys med standardfarven grøn/blågrøn.

 

Hvad er forskellen på UV maling og selvlysende maling?

Den primære forskel på UV maling og selvlysende maling er måden, man aktiverer malingens lyseffekt. Ved UV maling skal man bruge UV-belysning/black light, og ved selvlysende maling aktiverer lyset sig selv, så længe man befinder sig i mørke. Heraf kommer navnet “Glow in the dark”.​
